Join myself and David Flower for an exclusive, intimate full-day street photography workshop in the heart of Hull this August. We aren't just taking photos; we are learning to tell the story of the city through the small, overlooked details and capturing the essence of it's buildings and inhabitants.

While many workshops get bogged down in dense technical theory, our focus is entirely different: we want you out on the streets with your camera in hand.

As we navigate some of Hull's most compelling streets, you will have full access to our expertise. We will be right there alongside you to offer real-time suggestions, answer questions, and help you refine your composition on the go.

• Format: Small group limited to just 10 participants for one-on-one guidance.

• Experience: A full day of street shooting including a dedicated session in a private city-centre space for lunch and collaborative image review/editing.

• Investment: £125 per person.

What You Will Learn

We want it so that by the end of the day you will have some images you’re really proud of and have a much broader understanding of what street photography is about.

We will get out and about right away with our cameras, then at lunch we'll head to a pre-booked space in the city for a bite to eat and drink. During lunch we will be around to help you edit your images, either via your phone or tablet using your preferred software or the free software Snapseed as you have a method of getting your images downloaded from your camera. If you bring a laptop along you can use that too although we advise packing light for the street.

David has also put together a preset pack for you to take away that will help out your editing and give it that professional edge.

Throughout the day we'll help you discover how to:

• Spot and capture compelling street moments

• Use lines, geometry, light and shadows to build your compositions

• Work confidently with people and know when to take a shot or not

• Spot scenes and learn how to anticipate shots in busy areas

• Choose settings that help you shoot confidently and intuitively

This will be a hands on, fun workshop spent with two professional photographers with a combined 30 years of experience and open to photographers of all skill levels.

We welcome all abilities, and with three tutors on hand throughout the day, we are ready to support everyone—from those mastering the basics to photographers refining advanced techniques.
